10 Secrets To Eating At Restaurants and Weight Loss

How hard is it when you start a weight loss program and you are starting to see really great results - when all of a sudden you receive an invite out to a restaurant where you know that most of the food is rich and probably isn't going to do your diet any good? I have a lot of personal experience with restaurants and weight loss because I really enjoy dining out on a regular basis. Because of this reason I have been able to manage my own weight loss and still maintain my great pleasure of eating out.

I know when I first began my weight loss several years ago I used to worry about the meal choices I would make when I would go out for dinner, or lunch. Mostly because I knew most of the food on offer was high in fat, salt and additives. Not to mention the heavy dressings and oversized portions. I pretty much figured that I would be almost impossible to lose any weight while still dining out and that I would be stuck having to choose unhealthy meals.

It wasn't until I started to really educate myself on the nutritional value of food that I was able to come up with the solution - 10 of them infact. I got this information from a respected weight loss expert and fitness trainer - and it helped me enormously when I dined out - especially so because I would dine out on average 3 - 4 times per week.

Here is where you too are now going to discover these 10 secrets eating at restaurants and weight loss so you can continue on your weight loss journey

1. Choose vegetables every time over fries, wegdes or chips. Vegetables are very low in calories and loaded with fibre and good antioxidants

2. Food such as chicken, turkey or fish are the best meal choices to make because they are high in protein and have very little fat

3. Enquire about the types of dressings the dishes come with - are any low fat? Always choose low fat or no dressing where possible.

4. Steamed, grilled or baked meals should always be chosen over fried - once again you would be consuming less calories.

5. Ask for small serves, don't upsize for any reason. Upsizing can sometimes double or even triple your calorie intake, more for you to burn off at the gym.

6. Try to lmit your alcohol intake as alcohol is quite high in calories

7. Drink water with your meals as it will fill you up quicker

8. Desserts can be taken, however always choose where possible dishes that have fresh fruit

9. White bread intake should be kept a minimum, go for grained bread rolls etc where possible.

10. When you are full - stop eating. Usually when we are eating a good meal we ignore the stomach when it tells us it's full - only eat till you are satisfied and no more.

These are just 10 secrets to restaurants and weight loss- there are many more out there that will also have you choosing the best meal choices so you can go out socialising for dinners and not feel guilty. It's a simple matter of educating yourself on nutrition - and once you have this covered you will be one the tens of thousands of people who are enjoying the dining out experience and still managing to lose weight.

This article is only a taste of the types of meal choices to look out for when dining out - nutritional education is the key.

Permanent weight loss is not just about choosing the correct meal choices when eating out - there is so much more involved. Alot of the time people don't realize this on there weight loss journey's and only end up with short term weight loss. This is something that must be avoided to as to not end up on the weight loss merry go round.

Are you looking for a basic guideline and diet to follow as you determine which approach to use to lose body weight? If you want to obtain true weight loss you have to eliminate all of the processed foods, sodas, cookies, artificial sweeteners, and pastries. This is a good starting point because it cuts out all the toxins. Cutting out the toxins helps facilitate your body to remove unwanted fat that builds up in your body over time. This is one of the many secrets to losing body weight and keeping it off for good. If you put garbage in, expect the output to be garbage.

For example, you buy a very expensive car that needs only a certain type of gas to run at its optimal level. You did just as you were told and filled it up with the specific gas. Your car runs beautifully. Then one day, you decided, I am going to use this other gas it shouldn't make a difference. You kept doing this for 2 months, and then you started to notice that it wasn't running like it used to. You ignored the signs of the car getting progressively worse, and then you go to start the car and it will not run. As the proper gas was needed for the car to run smoothly, the same holds true for your body. If you continue to fuel your body with the wrong type of nutrients your body will eventually break down and not work at its optimal level.

The change of diet will be hard at first, but you will lose body weight and you will have more energy and less fatigue. I am not saying you can never eat any of these foods again, but it is best to decrease as much as possible to reap the most benefits you can. There is no single diet that is right for everyone but there is a diet that is perfect for you. There is an ideal balance of the macro-nutrient proteins, carbohydrates, fats that suits your body's specific biochemistry. Adjusting your eating patterns towards the balance of foods appropriate for your metabolic type can bring about noticeable improvements in your body and mind. Eating the wrong foods may cause unpleasant temporary symptoms such as lack of energy, irritability, depression, sweet cravings or indigestion. The long-term effects of an unbalanced diet can be much more serious, and result in chronic disease.

People experience different learning curves when it comes to changing their eating habits. You may ask now what? This is such a daunting task. How am I going to do this? First, take a deep breath. It is going to be OK! I am going to give you a method to do this change easily and with as little discomfort as possible. No matter how effective a plan is over the short-term, you have wasted your time, effort, and money if you have to start from the beginning over and over again. Make sure that the plan you choose helps you lose body weight, emphasizes permanent weight loss, and has a system to support your efforts until you are comfortable doing it alone.

The truth is you don't need such-n-such medical agencies or some' muscle head' at the gym telling you a bunch of fluffed up statistics and misleading numbers about calories and carbs. All you have to do is begin the process, take charge of your life, and stop thinking I can't lose body weight. Weight loss doesn’t have to be an emotional affair. Discovering your emotional eating habits before you begin to lose weight can go a long way in helping you lose weight, and keep the weight off.

Weight loss experts report you’ll gain confidence after you lose weight. Although true, science is proving that it’s more important for the success of your weight loss program that you gain confidence before dieting, or even during dieting, to be able to successfully reach your weight loss goals. Emotional eating often leads to binge eating, particularly if you’ve been denying yourself your favorite foods to lose weight. Weight loss gets significantly more challenging when you turn to food for boredom, loneliness, comfort, depression, insecurity, celebration or anger. Losing weight to gain confidence means you have to gain confidence in your ability to lose weight first.

Emotional eating is common, and some studies estimate that 75% of the population participates in “emotional eating.” Short bursts of emotional eating certainly isn’t harmful to healthy diets, but more often than not, our emotional eating doesn’t result in bingeing on bowls full of celery sticks. Recognizing your internal emotional eating habits gives you the knowledge to fight emotional eating when your emotions try to override your motivation to lose weight.

You may see yourself as a self-confident person, however, after examining your diet patterns, you might find that you lack self-efficacy; which believes you have the ability to reach a specific goal. Self-efficacy was a contributing factor in a Queensland University weight loss study. In this study, the women with higher rates of self-efficacy were able to meet their dieting goals because they believed they could, and they sought the education to do so. Gaining education, believing in you, and getting encouragement from others are recommended to increase self-efficacy levels that would have a positive affect on a dieter’s weight loss program.

Weight loss plans must consider the emotional aspect of losing weight. If emotional behaviors, weight loss education and dieting confidence are gained at the beginning of the weight loss plan, the weight loss is more likely to stay lost. Science is proving that if you believe you can lose weight, and then you’ll be able to do it. Start your journal and get a grip on your emotional eating, especially while you’re trying to lose weight. Gain a few pounds of self-confidence, and lose a few pounds of weight.
